Condoms and Conversations in Togo

Emefa is a 25-year-old sex worker who befriended Sela Adjovi, an EngenderHealth community health worker.

“Every day, Sela would see me on the street and ask me how I’m doing,” Emefa recalled. “I would ignore her every time. She never gave up on me, and now I can’t wait until I can see her and talk to her about life.”

Today, five years later, Emefa and Sela Adjovi, a community health worker with EngenderHealth, still meet frequently to catch up and discuss any health-related issues. Read their story.

Guidelines on Catheterization Are Launched in Nigeria

Eradication of obstetric fistula in Nigeria presents an enormous challenge due to the financial resources required, as well as shortages of trained personnel, insufficient equipment, and uneven distribution of the country’s skilled health workforce. In response, EngenderHealth’s Fistula Care Plus project and the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health launched guidelines on catheterization for prevention and management of obstetric fistula.
